Butler's Pantries

I think there's been maybe one time that I've been in a house that had a butler's pantry. It was in use, too, as there was a party going on. I'd kind of forgotten about it until we started watching Downton Abbey, and then I recalled that such a thing exists, and that it would be rather nice to have one day if we entertained a lot.

I can just picture Mr. Carson polishing the silver here. Always fastidious, isn't he? I used to polish silver at a restaurant, so I can understand his pride in the work, but what they don't tell you is how hard it is to get it to gleam! I'm sure he's on a set schedule, though, so that makes it easier.

This one is tiny, but looks bigger because of the doors and the white paint. I love the copper pendant lamps and how they contrast with the more rustic, earthy bowls, sink, and shelving. Farmhouse chic right there!

Here's another butler's pantry that also features copper, but it couldn't be more different from the previous photo. This one has a polished copper preparation area that brightens up the sleek gray and the folk motif.

Who says a butler's pantry has to be traditional? While most would use one to prep appetizers or drinks, there's no one stopping you from prepping coffee if that's more your thing.

I like this one best, though. Dark, moody, lots of wood, eclectic styling, and amazing globe lights. I'm positive that as the light changes throughout the day, this space takes on differing moods. And did you notice the push door with the porthole? Love!
